  • Setting clear boundaries for your content or project

  • Considering your emotional fitness as the content gatherer

  • ​Finding suitable contributors and conducting research calls

  • Safeguarding - how to recognise red and green flags

RECORDING

  • Selecting a suitable interview space

  • Writing interview questions

  • Getting informed consent

  • Suitable recording equipment and set-up

  • Preparing yourself and the contributor for the interview

  • Interview techniques and managing emotions

CREATING & PUBLISHING

  • Editing and assembling your interview

  • Defining a review/feedback process

  • Publishing your content

  • Ongoing communication with, and support for contributor

  • Evaluation and learning

What to bring

  • Your smartphone for filming or recording, fully charged, with plenty of space for new footage (tip: empty your trash folder to free up more space)

  • Device charger

  • Jack input adapter, if you have one

  • Note pad and pen

  • Refreshments, if required

Software

You'll be editing on your mobile device using a video editing app called Kinemaster, which is available for Android and iOS devices (not available on desktop).

Please download and install Kinemaster app onto your device before the workshop to ensure device compatibility.

Kinemaster offers a free version with in-app purchases. The free version is adequate for learning, but upgrade/subscription is recommended for watermark-free video creation.
